Base engine models incorporated an air scoop that was blocked off ( non functioning with a removable insert ). The hood is secured with racing style hood pins. The 1969 1970 Mustang Fastback ( or Sportsroof as they were called ) has a longer, meaner more aggressive look than the earlier 1967 1968 cars.
The 1970 Boss 302 Mustang was designed by Larry Shinoda, a former GM employee. He placed the unique reflective strips on the car, and eliminated the fake scoops found on the 1969 Mustang model. The distinctive styling included the rear window shades, blackout hood, and was one of the first production cars with a front spoiler and rear deck wing, today often fitted to upscale and some compact family sedans. The 1970 model introduced the side “hockey” stripes.
